Ranorex - Software Automation Framework
Ranorex GmbH is part of the Austrian-based holding and consulting company, EOSS Group, which specializes in the development of innovative companies. Ranorex GmbH in return specializes in the development of innovative software testing solutions; the company offers a “comprehensive range of tools for the software automation.” As explained by Ranorex, its mission is to fundamentally improve the quality of software applications.
The company’s flagship product is the aptly named Ranorex, an application that weighs in at some 44MB and works with pretty much any version of the Microsoft-developed Windows operating system.
Ranorex, a software automation framework, lets tests and developers put their application to the test; the application lets them test applications from a user’s point of view, identify and eliminate bugs that plague the aforementioned applications. Ranorex users can test various types of applications, including Web 2.0 applications, Win32, MFC, WPF, Flash/Flex, .NET and Java (SWT).
Here are the features Ranorex can boast about:
GUI object recognition – Thanks to the Ranorex Spy tool, the user is provided with all the bits and pieces he needs to explore and analyze applications. Ranorex provides support for .NET, WPF (framework versions 1.1, 2.0, 3.5), Win32 applications (MFC, Delphi), 3rd party controls (like Infragistics, DevExpress, QT, and so on), Java SWT applications, Web Testing, Adobe Flash/Flex Testing.
Object-based capture/relay – The Ranorex Recorder tool is above the rest of the pack because it can capture and display all sorts of users action, it can integrate Ranorex repositories for object-based automation, it can provide maintainable recordings via an actions table editor, it can let the user extend recordings with user defined code, it provides a validation mode during recording session, and it supports host and web applications.
GUI object repository browser.
Ranorex Studio – This tool integrates all the Ranorex tools and the powerful Ranorex Library in one professional test development environment.
Because Ranorex tests applications from a user’s point of view, it is a better alternative to conventional testing tools. And because it provides increased testing accuracy and ease-of-use, it is an even more appealing tool.
